Moxie at SXSW 2014

Posted 6 March 2014 12:00 AM by Jinah Kim

This year, SXSW is going to be full of Moxie. Several members of our fearless team are descending upon Austin with their mobile devices — and the hashtag #moxieSXSW — in hand.

Follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as they traverse the wild landscape of SXSW interactive. We can’t wait to hear about all of their late night adventures, early morning learnings and any-time-of-the-day celebrity sightings.

We asked the team members what they’re most excited to see, do and learn at this year’s conference. Here’s what they had to say:

Heather Carson
Director of Analytics

As an analytics professional, I’ve always viewed social media to be equivalent to a highly biased focus group affected by observer dependency: The results obtained are influenced by the researcher or his/her own reading of the group's discussion, which raises questions of validity. I’m interested in learning how other research and analytics professionals mitigate these biases to produce findings that can inform business decisions. I’m also very much looking forward to my first trip to Austin!

Matt Schneider
Associate Media Director

This is my first trip to SXSW and Austin. I look forward to exploring the city and enjoying the myriad fascinating panels and meet-ups taking place.

Chris Bailey
Sr. Art Director

This is my first time attending SXSW, so I am looking forward to the entire experience. I am particularly interested in presentations and discussions around two specific trends: content creation and wearable technology. I love innovation, and I believe these areas are ripe with opportunities for our clients.

Dustin M. Thomas
Senior Copywriter

I am interested in learning about the advances in connected in-car tech and in how SXSW handles the unplugged movement. I’m also looking to create some new connections for the company. This tech overload is going to push my personal limits — an experience I welcome. Check out how everything unfolds at or

Dustin Thompson
Director, Social Media

I'm back at SXSW for a second time. My 2012 rookie season was overwhelming (in a good way). From panels, client and vendor meetings, trade shows, keynotes and networking, it's a lot to take in and organize. And, of course, the work back home doesn't stop. This year, I'm coming to Austin with a different perspective and approach. I’m looking forward to meeting new people, learning about the latest and greatest technologies and bringing back a renewed excitement and outlook on social and technology. But let's be honest: I’m most excited about the Austin cuisine!

Shannon Smith

This year, I am going to concentrate on new coding trends and upcoming technologies primarily related to the Internet. Personally, I am very excited about wearable technologies designed for fitness and infants. I also want to further explore how to use technology to make the world a cleaner and better place.
