So here we are again in Sin City, at the biggest nerd-fest in the world. The big show really starts tomorrow but opening keynotes and presentations kicked off today (not to mention the opportunity to sneak onto the show floor). So beyond the perennial, ever more ginormous, zillion pixel screens in increasingly unnatural shapes, here are the four things we expect to see at this years show.

1.  Everything on demand
New generations of 3D printers, robots, drones and autonomous vehicles – we’ll soon have the opportunity to have almost anything made and delivered in a matter of hours. This will be a huge disruptive force on manufacturing, warehousing and transportation.

2.  Welcome to the matrix
Virtual and augmented reality has been around for decades, but technological barriers have slowed down both development and adoption. Today with the staggering advances in miniaturization, processing power, networking speeds and AI enhanced vision systems, many of the barriers have been overcome. Thanks to companies like Oculus Rift and Daqri, VR and AR are set to be the next major industrial and consumer digital platforms.

3.  The future of transportation
Self-parking, fully autonomous, electric/hybrid, 3D printed, quantified and connected vehicles - the automotive industry is being radically reimagined. The ripple effects will disrupt industries from energy to insurance and reshape society.

4.  Surprises
New innovations and novel approaches to gaming, smart homes, robotics, wearables, digital health. We’re looking to be wowed.

We’ll be posting daily with updates on all four areas and look for our CES wrap up this Friday.
